Earfinger (2021)
Earfinger is an oversized silicone ear with a human-scale silicone finger sticking out of its ear canal. The ear and finger are set on a pan-tilt servo mechanism which protrudes from the housing of a wall mounted security camera. Each time Earfinger has been exhibited, it is installed besides a preexisting, permanently installed security camera mounted on a wall. A pan-tilt servo mechanism is triggered by a microphone such that Earfinger points at the spot from which it hears a sound. It surveils the space, pointing and searching.
